Decepticon Base Diarama (10x)
From Transformers customizer frenzy_rumble is a gallery of images of his latest custom which is a diarama of G1 Decepticons. The base is a modified version of iGear Ark playset and I believe the figures are custom paint jobs of various G1, Masterpiece toys and others.

Starscream and the Seekers Cover "Bad"
A few months ago there was a music video to Michael Jackson's Thriller mostly featuring Autobots and now here is one covering Bad with all the Decepticon jets.

Transformers Linkfest

While it has been a pretty busy week in Transformers: Dark of the Moon news (yeah bit of an understatement), the non-movie related links have been stacking up. The latest round news of a fan wish to continue Marvel's Transformers comics, Transformers: Prime score, Starscreams, TF lego creations, a custom Pretender, G1 related DVD news, and bunch of Peaugh reviews.

Fans Petition for Transformers Comic
Hit the link for the full details but the summary is Simon Furman, writer of many things Transformers, expressed interested continuing the stories of Transformers from the Marvel comics continuity, fans listened. The idea is the same as what IDW is already doing with G.I. Joe A Real American Hero title so in theory a new issue would start with Transformers #81. According to Simon, "There was a lot we never got to do, that I’d like to revisit or just to take the next big steps with all that we’d set up in the previous 20 or so issues." Currently the petition has 1705 names but could always have more.

Transformers: Prime Score for Free
TF: Prime composer Brian Tyler has posted 10 tracks of music from the first season of the series. Not available for download just yet but still a great listen. Really except for Batman: The Animated Series I don't recall last time a cartoon series has such a solid score.

Lego Optimus Prime (27x)
While Hasbro has its response with the Kre-Q line, the gallery of images at the link shows that there still isn't nothing like a well-built Lego model. The Lego Prime figure is built from 10k pieces and stands 55cm tall. (via TFormers)Read More »

ROTF Accurate Custom Jolt
Hit the link for a gallery of images of a custom job that create a more movie accurate version of Jolt from Revenge of the Fallen complete with battle damage and arm tips that were used to provide Optimus with the "jolt" he need to merge if Jetfire's parts. Thanks to Bryan for the link.

NASA Announces Winner of Transformers Video Contest
A month or so ago, NASA held a contest for elementary school students to create videos about "their favorite technology." The contest was collaboration between Hasbro, Paramount and NASA "to help students understand how NASA technology 'transforms' into things used daily." The winners receive the NASA Optimus Prime trophy during the awards ceremony on April 12th with Peter Cullen (voice of Prime) at the National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. Congrats to the winners. (via Seibertron)Read More »

Five-Ton Megatron Tank

The pictures of this 5 ton fan re-creation of Megatron's movie version tank alt mode pretty much speak for themselves. Below are a few sample pics but the rest can be found at Chinese language site ZCool or here for English translation. A mirror of the pics is also at Bleeding Cool.
Dear Friends Happy New Year!

The first year the legendary Iron Steel Sculpture: Transformers Megatron in tank available, and now pictures dedicated to everyone, I hope my friends for their valuable comments.

Process was full of twists and turns, the light tank track on the teeth, before and after no fewer than ten times to modify the program. Anyway, finally get rid of this monster, weighing almost 5 tons. Several aspects are split, however, today this baby out of the studio, a dozen people was not ready to spend an afternoon.

In fact, some parts can be refined, it can be done more refined, but experts of the supplier of many supporting a holiday, employees have to return home New Year, plus find a suitable material, so it feels out of less desirable.

Transtopia Masterclass - Soundwave
From Seibertron, a look at another Transformer custom. This one is a combo piece of Reveal the Shield Perceptor with Generations Soundwave (like the guns) and a fantastic paintjob. The figure already sold on eBay for $281.87 but be sure to hit the link to view the gallery.

Transformers: Beast Wars Re-release
Shout! Factory has tweeted plans to re-release Transformers: Beast Wars on DVD with new extras material. They also have indicated that the Generation One set will also get re-issued and they are looking at giving the Japanese cartoons a possible stateside release. I still have the Rhino editions of both cartoons and probably need to upgrade but the cost of those sets at the time was not cheap. Takara continued the Generation One cartoons for another 3 or so season after it had ended stateside.Read More »

Combined Super Bowl & Daytona 500 Trailer

For your entertainment, Valery T of Cinemotion has edited an extended trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon that combines all the non-repeat scenes in the Super Bowl and Daytona 500 commercials with a touch of the first teaser trailer. The result is a 44 second video of pure Transformer action.

Transformers: Prime Art
From Jose Lopez, a look at the character art created for Transformers: Prime during the character design phase. I can't remember enough to know if these represent the final character designs or is concept art that led to the final designs. If a fan of the cartoon, worth a look. (via TFW2005)

MP Rodimus Designer Interview
TFW2005 has posted a translation of an interview from Figure OH Magazine with Hironori Kobayashi who designed Masterpiece Rodimus Prime that should be coming out any time now. The interview covers his thoughts that went into designing the Transformer such as trying to incorporate his transformation process from the movie.Read More »

Custimized Masterforce Overlord Transformer
One of the things I love about Transformers is how some fans can take a base figure (or two) and really just go to town creating wonderful new Transformers. At the link are a few images of such an effort. Using Armada Tidal Wave, ROTF Jetfire, and ROTF Bludgeon, procustimizer Sabrina created Masterforce Overlord (from Japan TF series) that is the combination of Giga and Mega.

Transformers: Prime Heads to Europe
Hasbro has reached an agreement with Turner Broadcasting to air Transformers: Prime in the UK, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and the Middle East. The show will start airing in summer 2011 on a combination of their "kid" network depending on what is available in each country.

Sumalee Montano (TF: Prime's Arcee) Interview
TFW2005's Black Oracle posted this interview with the lovely Sumalee Montano who voices Arcee in Transformers: Prime. It provides a little bit of background on the actress, becoming familiar with Transformers, Arcee, and meeting Susan Blu (original voice of Arcee).Read More »

Optimus Prime on Ice
Click the link for a gallery of images of the movie version Optimus Prime ice sculpture. Created by Antti Pedrozo and Michel de Kok, the structure stands around 26 feet tall.

Masterpiece Rodimus Prime Transformation
As the image shows, a look at how the transformation from robot to Hot Rod vehicle to Rodimus Prime truck works. The MP toy is currently scheduled to come out in January 2011 and currently the import cost is around $200.

Custom Transformers Guzzle Gallery
Hit the link for a gallery of images of master Transformer customizer frenzy_rumble. Guzzle is based on the G1 toy from 1988. Not entirely sure what the base Transformer toy is for his custom job, keep thinking it is Titanium series Grimlock but not 100% sure about that.Read More »

New Blog Logo, Posters (Updated)

Brief blog note. Big thanks to Jeffrey of Pixel Rally for the new blog title, especially the sweet Autobot and Decepticon symbols with the Moon in them to match the new logo for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. What do you think?

Update: Jeffrey was kind enough to make public his designs for the Decepticon and Autobot logos along with two posters of his own creation. These are not official designs for the movie, but inspired by the current title design. The four images can be found here. If you do snag em for your websites or whatever, just make sure to give Jeffery and Pixel Rally the credit.

Transformers Linkfest

Time for another linkfest. More galleries with emphasis on upcoming Transformers: Generations toys along with a few reviews.

Transformers United Kup and Perceptor
Hit link for few images of the G1 character re-imagined with new alt modes. "United" is Takara's name for the Generations line from Hasbro. A leak from Hasbro Malaysia indicates the figures will get a stateside release in February along with Wheeljack, Rumble, Frenzy, Wreck-Gar and few others (links to their galleries below).

Transformers On Sale
Not sure for how long but Wal-Mart has dropped the price on Deluxe and Power Core Combiner 5-packs. The Deluxe sizes, including Generations are selling for $9 instead of retail of $12. The Power Core figures are $15 instead of $20, a pretty good price point if on the fence about trying these toys out (or buying ahead for Christmas). In addition, Target is selling the Power Core 2-packs for $7. Personally I used the sale to snag Generations Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Drift. All are pretty solid figures that match the Generations line well and warm my fuzzy nostalgic heart.Read More »

Transformers Linkfest

No new news yet for Transformers 3 in Florida so here are links to galleries and reviews of upcoming toys that will be hitting toy shelves over the next few months. Make sure to view the sweet fan created film that is a nod to the Nokia robot from the first film.

Generations Wreck-Gar
The Transformers Collector's Club has provided the first look Wreck-Gar. I believe the last time we saw this character was for Transformers: Animated and now we are getting a Generations line toy that is closer to his G1 origins. While the robot mode is pure G1 goodness, his alt mode is no longer a motorcycle. The figure is coming sometime next spring.

Transformers Camera Battle
Below is a sweet Transfan short film that pits two transforming cell phones against each other, using the transforming Nokia phone design and sounds from Transformers. Over all a pretty sweet looking and highly detailed creation that is worth watching. Thanks to Arthur P. for the link.

Ultra Magnus, Thunderwing Fan Customs

As a small change of pace from Transformers 3 in Chicago, here are links to two fan custom created Transformers. The first is Ultra Magnus based on the War for Cybertron Optimus Prime. There are actually two versions. One goes with what has now become the norm version of Magnus as a white repaint with blue highlights of an Optimus Prime figure. The other is the same base but with extra bits and paint job designed to invoke the Generation 1 look of the character. Click here to view the rest of the gallery.

The second gallery is for the IDW version of Thunderwing. His original incarnation was as a Pretender. Apparently the base figure for this customization is Supreme class Starscream but it looks to me like Ultra class Powerglide’s wings was attached. Any case if interested the gallery is here. (via Seibertron)

Dinobot Combiner Extinction Fan Creation

For your enjoyment, yet another fan created Transformers masterpiece that makes you see the never realized opportunity with the Generation 1 Dinobots. Created by FrenzyRumble (if love custom TFs, click the link), this Transformer goodness takes the Dinobots and combines them to form Extinction. The result, as you can see from these few images, is quite stunning. I am not entirely sure, but as an interesting touch, I believe this combiner is also a headmaster with Wheelie forming Extinction's head. More images of the figure can be found here. At the end of the gallery is also the origin story for the character. Thanks to Amar T. for the pictures.

Transformers Linkfest

Another week has ended and so another linkfest to various Transformer things that interested me. Click the links below to view War for Cybertron character concept art, a look a new Josh Nizzi art, a cool Takara exclusive set, yet another Ironhide repaint, and a review of a new Generations figure.

War for Cybertron Concept Art
Click the link to view some of the art created during the development of Transformers: War for Cybertron. It includes Zeta Prime, Onslaught, Arcee, and few more.

Josh Nizzi's Robot Taekwon V Design
From the guy that created the look of Long Haul for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has applied his skill to create the robot for the live action movie being filmed in Korea. It seems inspired or at least based on the design aesthetic created by the Transformers movie. I think the character is a shell for a human occupant to go and kick bad guy butt.

Wave 2 Power Core Combiners Gallery
Click the link to get a look at the new pack of Power Core's that will be hitting stores shelves in August or September (I think). One of the 5-packs seems to have been inspired by the G1 Protectobots but isn't a redo of that gestalt.Read More »

Customized Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime

While the fan created Omega Supreme remains my favorite so far, Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime might come a close second. Created by Encline Designs, this huge 27'' tall Prime figure was inspired by unused art from long time Transformer artist Don Figueroa.

The result of its size is it’s nearly in scale to the typical GI Joe toy and seems to make the perfect accessory to any GI Joe collection. Below are a few images, the rest can be found here. If you have a few thousand dollars lying around, the figure is now up on EBay.

Masterpiece Omega Supreme Fan Creation (Update)

Omega Supreme returns in this amazing fan created masterpiece that is just gorgeous to look at. Created by Seibertron's "uuser", it almost seems like a highly detailed statue that Weta might produce but this one transforms and has areas that light up. Omega Supreme is one of the first G1 characters, created as a counter to Devastator. He has experienced a bit of a revival in popularity thanks to his use in Transformers: Animated and War for Cybertron. The original G1 toy was also released as part of Takara's Encore line a year or so ago. I think the Omega Supreme Energon toy was the base of this figure but then a whole lot of detail, love and parts was piled on to create a new toy that would be more then worthy of Takara's Masterpiece line. Below are a few select images, click here for more images and details about its creation from uuser.

Update: This custom figure is now up on eBay for auction with a starting bid of $3000. At least the shipping is free. Thanks to YoboY for the link.

Botcon 2010 Galleries Linkfest

Botcon 2010, the official Transformers convention, was held this weekend at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Hasbro, Activision, IDW, Peter Cullen and more held panels that provided updates on the toys, new cartoon, and more. One of these years I will get to attend but thankfully the other Transformers websites did and reported back. This post is for the toy galleries, the other is for the panel news.

Dealer Room
What is a convention without a big room to buy stuff? If you have the money, you can probably find that Transformer you have been looking for and many you may not have known existed. If I ever won the lottery, this would probably be one of my first stops.

Power Core Combiners - One | Two
Images of the various 2-pack and 5-pack combiners that will start hitting shelves as early as July 1st but already seen reports that a few Toys R Us stores have started stocking them.

Hunt for Decepticons & Generations - Video | One | Two | Three | Four | Five
Lots of images that show off even more toys hitting toy shelves very soon to accompany Power Core. The Hunt for Decepticons sub-line has lots of repaints but also new molds while Generations is basically a big kiss to Generation 1 and War for Cybertron fans. Blurr also is shown off (repaint of Drift) but likely not scheduled to hit shelves until September.Read More »

Transformers Linkfest

Time for another "linkfest". More galleries of upcoming toys from Hasbro and Takara including Generations, Buzz Lightyear and Ghost Starscream. Also videos of the War for Cybertron credits and Hound fan art.

Official Transformers Generations Gallery
Click the link to view a gallery that shows off the 3rd wave of Transformers Generations toys. This wave, due on stores more or less now, is W4C Megatron, W4C Soundwave, Classic Red Alert and Darkmount (based on G1 Straxus).

Dreadwing and Smokescreen Gallery
A look at new additions to the Transformers (minus ROTF) line that is hitting stores soon. Dreadwing is voyager sized and based on the Generation 2 toy. Smokescreen is a shuttle that can attack to Dreadwing's ship mode. Mostly I just like the shade of blue but beyond that think will wait for a review before determine if worth buying.Read More »

Shockwave Fan Concept Art

Now that we know that Shockwave is the big bad of Transformers 3, it makes you wonder exactly what he will look like. When the character was first created he had an alt mode of a Cybertronian laser gun that later changed to a Cybertronian tank in later cartoon series. Will he retain a tank mode for the movies despite Megatron already claiming that alt mode? Too early to know but the guys at Team Pandora Box created some sweet fan concept art last year for the character that might help you imagine the possibilities. Below is a little of their Shockwave, the rest can be found here.
