Transformers 3 Returning to Chicago This Weekend

Filming has wrapped up at the Milwaukee Art Museum and returns to Chicago starting this Saturday. According to WLS 890AM, filming is moving to the Michigan Avenue Bridge and surrounding area and include the use of helicopters for aerial footage. It also seems that its possible more helo jumps might occur in the area. The image to the left is a street detour map (PDF) the website provided.
Transformers 3 will be filming Friday through Sunday on the Michigan Avenue bridge and an aerial photography unit will also be flying near the Trump Tower at 401 N. Wabash Ave., according to a release from the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

Pyrotechnics and special effects will be in use and police and fire officials will be supervising, the release said.

As a result, North Michigan Avenue will be closed from East Onterio Street to East Wacker Drive from 8 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Monday and Lower North Michigan Avenue will be closed from Lower East Wacker Drive to East Hubbard Street from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, according to the release.

Stores and buildings will remain open and Michigan Avenue sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians between East Ohio and East Illinois streets, the release said. To cross the Chicago River, pedestrians will need to access the Wabash and Columbus bridges.

Helicopters will be used for aerial photography and stunt parachutists from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Overall it looks like another fun-filled, traffic jam Transformers weekend for Chicago. Thanks to Katie for the link.
